Sunday October 13th 9.00am from The Great Northern Railway Tavern.
Cyclists and book enthusiasts can enjoy an
educational (if slightly challenging) bike ride on Sunday October 13th, and
learn about some of London ’s
famous literary past.
This group bike ride will include stops at
writers’ former homes, famous & not so famous literary landmarks and other
notable places where the written word holds a special place in its history.
Setting off at 9.00am sharp from The Great
Northern Railway Tavern on Hornsey
High Road , the route will be approximately 15-18
miles. There will be a number of stops during the ride, where your guide will
explain the literary significance of the area. It’s a circular route,
finishing at the GNRT, where you can all enjoy a well deserved drink.
It’s expected that, with
these stops, the ride will take between 3 and 4 hours, and there may well be a
few hills!
Maps and information sheets
will be provided to all riders.
This is being organised in conjunction with Stravel, a groundbreaking new website offering all who travel in Haringey the chance to collect reward points every time they walk or cycle
You can sign up HERE free.
Bring a bike in good working
order (tires properly inflated, etc.), helmet and water bottle. We don't know what the weather's going to be like, but make sure you wear appropriate gear.
There'll be a refreshment stop during the cycle ride too, so bring along a snack or two.
If you're unable to come along, the bike route maps and fact sheets will be available throughout (and after) the Festival at just £2.
